Weigelas
Weigelas
Weigelas are flowering shrubs that belong in every landscape. That’s my opinion anyway. They come in several sizes and colors. Even different leaf colors.
Different sizes from small ones that only grow a couple of feet. Medium sizes get to be 3 to 5 feet. There are a couple varieties that grow bigger than that even.
We grow several varieties of them. They come in shades of pink, red or white flowers. One even has variegated leaves with both pink and white flowers on the same branch.
The flowers are shaped like long flared tubes and they really attract the butterflies and hummers. They bloom heavy in late spring with some sporadic blooming throughout the summer, especially on the newer growth.
Weigelas are usually used best as accent plantings. They can also be grown in a row to make a colorful hedge. Easily pruned for shape or let them do what they do best, grow lots of flower-covered branches.
